To most people, real estate is all about showing pretty houses—but behind every "For Sale" sign is a realtor juggling details, decisions, and a whole lot of dedication.
So what does a real day in my life look like as a Central Ohio Realtor? Let me take you behind the scenes.
The day starts early at our house. By 5:00 AM, I’m up and outside with Cody and Sophia for their morning potty break—it’s our quiet moment before the day picks up speed. Then it’s off to the gym at the Philip Heit Center in New Albany. I love starting the day with a workout; it clears my head, sets my pace, and gives me energy to serve my clients at my best.
With coffee in hand, I review hot sheets for new listings, price changes, and market trends across Granville, Pataskala, Westerville, and beyond. I scan for opportunities that fit my buyer clients—and check in with sellers on showings and feedback. Finish up with a morning walk for Cody and Sophia.
This is my “CEO hour”—where I call new leads, check in with past clients, and follow up with folks from open houses, online inquiries, or neighborhood mailers. I might shoot a quick video to update my Instagram stories or plan a post for Facebook.
Late morning to early afternoon is often booked with either showing homes to buyers or meeting with sellers for listing walkthroughs. I bring checklists, data, and a full game plan for every appointment.
Back at the home office or a local coffee shop, I review staging photos, prep postcards, update the MLS, or write marketing copy (like this blog!). I also negotiate deals in real-time—every contract needs eyes on it.
I return calls, update my clients on inspection results, appraisal timelines, or their next steps. If there’s time, I’ll stop by a local business I feature in my “Shop Local” video or chat with a contractor partner.
Many of my clients work 9–5, so evenings are prime time for second showings, writing offers, or attending networking or builder events. On those evenings I get to spend at home, I love taking Cody and Sophia for a walk in the neighborhood. Depending on what critters have been in the area, the walk can be more like a shuffle.
I finish the day by checking my inbox, updating files in my CRM, and prepping tomorrow’s to-do list. Some nights, I’m writing or reviewing offers late into the evening—because when my clients are ready, I’m ready. Usually one or more of my furbabies are cuddled up next to me or on my lap giving me an occassional nudge that it is bedtime.
Behind every transaction is a family, a dream, a new chapter. I love this work because it’s personal, meaningful, and ever-changing.
